One companion, many choices
Summons, shop pets, tamed beasts and temporary charms share one active companion slot. Mounts and mercenaries have separate arrangements. You can keep a roster and change which companion accompanies you.
Use pet list and pet score <name> to inspect your own companions.
Training that stays with them
Signature abilities unlock automatically. Optional training costs one point per ability family. Pets earn a point at levels 20, 40, 60, 80 and 100. Later ranks of a learned ability do not cost extra points.
Use pet train <name> <ability>. Your choices remain through dismissal and summon-form changes. Skills above the current synced level become unavailable until the pet reaches that level again.
Growth and evolution
Shop pets begin at their purchase level. Their initial growth cap is five levels higher, up to level 30. Pets bought above 30 begin fully grown. Tamed beasts generally have five levels of growth, capped at the mortal level limit.
Earn combat experience, reach the current growth cap, then dismiss the pet before using pet evolve <name>. Stable mounts before using mount evolve <name>. You must be out of combat and not casting. The new form keeps your pet's name, training and equipment.
Summoned forms
Your summoning spell takes a higher form as its effective proficiency increases. They are separate from purchased pets' evolution chains. Summons follow your level. Their remembered highest level preserves earned training and equipment eligibility.
Unlocking a new form does not award a fresh set of training points. Most families unlock higher forms at ranks 120 and 240 (40% and 80%). Elder Treant unlocks at rank 240. Effective rank is limited by your current level, so these thresholds require at least levels 40 and 80 respectively, as well as access to the base spell.
Gear and tactics
Equipment eligibility remembers the pet's highest attained level. Gear contribution scales with its current level. Body type still determines usable slots. Non-humanoid companions and animated corpses cannot wield weapons.
Attack favors offense, defend focuses on holding attention, and support helps allies. Learned abilities participate in these tactics. Unusable priority entries fall back to default actions. Use the pet editor to choose roles and priorities.
Mounts
Mounts have their own stable roster and do not spend pet training points. Eligible combat rewards grant experience while riding as well as while the mount is nearby. Riding uses the mount's stamina for travel.
Use mount list, mount score <name>, mount summon <name> and mount stable <name>. The catalog distinguishes a mount's built-in abilities from trainable companion skills.
Wild Accord
Wild Accord can bind eligible living beasts to your roster. The catalog lists beasts with public placements whose basic creature restrictions permit taming. Capture still depends on your spell access, charm strength and the creature's current state. A listed encounter level is not a guaranteed capture level.
Elite creatures, charm-immune targets and other protected creatures cannot be seized. A tamed beast uses the companion slot even if its species can otherwise be ridden.
Animated and seized undead
Animate Dead moves soulless remains with death-aspected magic. Control Undead can seize an eligible existing undead creature. The grimoire stores bound servants. Their abilities depend on the original creature, so they do not share one fixed summon curriculum.
The undead pool starts at two, with Gathered Dead and Undead Legion adding one slot each. These traits also provide corpse training choices. Use grimoire to inspect the actual servant's abilities and restrictions. Corpse servants rescue their master rather than freely pulling attention from the group.
